Vlerick remains partner of choice for management training
10/05/2010

Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School has consolidated its position in the Financial Times Ranking 2010 for Executive Education. The School has confirmed its position as number 1 in the Benelux and retained its place within the top 20 in Europe. On a global scale – in which more than 6,000 business schools are active – the School has evolved into maintaining a permanent Top 40 spot, being listed as 36th.

The FT ranking for Executive Education includes open general management training (general management programmes for participants from various companies and with various backgrounds) on the one hand and internal programmes (specialised programmes tailored to companies) on the other.

Patrick De Greve, General Director Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School, comments:

“This confirmation of our position is a fine accomplishment in these economically turbulent times. The financial and economic crisis has meant that training and development of management talent have not been a company’s top priority. This result emphasises our sustainable and qualitative evolution (the School grew by 3% in 2009) in a very competitive and increasingly global educational market.
The results of the FT ranking for Executive Education indicate that the strong trend towards internationalisation within the business school landscape continued even more intensively in 2009. Among other indications, this is evidenced by a number of new South American and African business schools that have entered this ranking for the first time.

Clearly, Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School made the right decision by opting (years ago already) to internationalise our programmes, faculty, students, alumni and companies, as well as our campuses in Russia and China. So, our high scores in this ranking in the areas of diversity of participants (top 15 in the world) and diversity of faculty (top 25 in the world) are no surprise, but rather the result of years of sustained investment.
Finally, this result is also a sign of the confidence that our participants and alumni have in the School as their preferred, long-term partner for high-level Executive Education.”

Last year, a total of 5,496 entrepreneurs and managers followed courses at Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School. They participated in 168 different programmes: 87 open programmes (3,785 participants) and 81 programmes for internal training (1,711 participants). Both international as well as local companies – such as AGC, Aliaxis, Bayer, Bekaert, Belgacom, Bostik, Deloitte, Dexia, Electrabel, Fortis, InBev, SAS, Siemens, Swift and Umicore – send their managers to the School.
