The bond between Vlerick and South Africa is one of many many years and goes back to the pioneering phase of the School. André Vlerick, founder of the School, had strong relationships with South Africa, which resulted in the exchange of several students.
One of the South-African students who spent a year in Belgium, was Johan Bosch (PUB 1967), who had professor Vlerick himself as a mentor during his period at the School. Back in South Africa, he became a professor at Universiteit Port Elizabeth. He keeps the warm relationship with the School alive by sending exchange students. Recently, South African professor David Venter also joined the School. He is currently programme director of the full-time MBA.
